A lap full of help

dsc04576a A lap full of help

She’s actually small enough that she fits underneath the desktop, on my lap.  I’m sitting in the chair with my legs crossed in order to support her comfortably.  Her comfort.  Not mine.  I’m reminded that while I’m still pretty young, I’m not as young and flexible as I used to be.  I think my foot has actually gone to sleep.

But who could resist that face??  Not I.  That’s for sure.

Too dark for pictures

I should have known that it was really too dark for taking pictures.

What do you think Maggie?

dsc04497 Too dark for pictures

Yeah, I thought so too. So I can only share one for now.

dsc04491 Too dark for pictures

I’ll take some more in the morning when there is actual daylight.

The quilt has been washed but not blocked, which is why the binding looks a little ripply. It’s my cousin’s wedding quilt, and if it hadn’t snowed and blown this weekend, she would have gotten it. As it is, she’ll have to wait until this weekend.

My heart is breaking tonight for my online friend Gina. Gina is on vacation in Hawaii and is trying to get home, her son was killed in a car accident last night, and her other son was in the car and is in the ICU.

Brrrrrrrrr, plus a question

Is it spring yet?

I thought about complaining about the snow and ice and wind and subzero temps, but I guess I’ll just let you imagine the complaints.

I haven’t been able to continue my journaling project because Shimelle hasn’t posted any new prompts!  I hope she’s OK!  I suppose I could have made something up for the last few days, but I just now thought of that.  (LOL)

Some sewing and quilting has taken place around these parts, but…I haven’t taken any pictures, and taking pictures would require me to get up and move to a different part of the house.  Yes, I’m being lazy tonight.  Or maybe I’m just crabby because I’m cold.

I do have some layouts to share.  They are both from challenges issued on the message board at JessicaSprague.com.

The first one is “scraplifted” from a layout that was a challenge on another website (Designerdigitals.com).  In other words, that layout pretty directly inspired the photography layout on this one.

And in this one, the quote was the challenge, it came from Designerdigitals.com as well.

Aren’t they silly?

I think I’m going to go sew.  Either that or crawl underneath a quilt.

How To Get More Exercise

Get a new dog.

OK, so tromping around in the snow for a minutes isn’t exactly exercise, but it is more movement than I have been getting lately…and more trips outside to the fresh air, too!

We have an invisible fence (which we love, it works great…), but it doesn’t work until you train the dog with the collar and showing them where the boundaries are.  Most of our 2 acres is covered with piles and drifts, some of them up to my waist or higher.  Invisible fence training will have to wait awhile.

I quilted for awhile last night.  My Mom had been working on this, and if Hannah hadn’t decided to show up several weeks early, the quilt would have been on time.  Oh well.  LOL

The pattern is by Terry Atkinson.  I think it’s called Slide Show?

Had to make a matching page for Joe.  I’m pretty tickled with the words tucked into the couch cushion.  It’s not perfect, but I like it!

Poor Joe is home today, still not feeling well.  Such a week.  I’m very glad it is Friday.

Not a lot of learning

Monday was a full day of school.

Tuesday was dismissed 1.5 hours early due to the impending snowstorm.

Wednesday was a Snow Day.  Don’t know the exact snow total, I’m guessing we were close to 12 inches.

Thursday was supposed to be a 2 hour delay, but right before we were ready to leave I checked the news again:  great, school’s closed again.  I can only guess it is because some of the rural roads are still impassable.

All of which means that 2 boys have been home way too much this week.   Not that I don’t love them, but they are getting on each other’s nerves.  Oh, and my nerves, too.

Hopefully they’ll at least go to school tomorrow before the weekend arrives.

Gratuitous puppy picture of the day:
