My mother offered to come over and check if I had a fever when I informed her that I had never even turned my computer on yesterday.
It was a conscious decision at first, but as the day went on, I just never got around to it. Thought about it a few times, but then found other things to do. Fun things. Like vacuum and mop the kitchen floor. Or schlepp stuff around in my sewing room.
Really exciting stuff.
I still can’t find a single thing in my sewing room, but at least you can see the floor now. It’s still too much of an embarrassing mess to show pictures of, though.
The boys spent the afternoon outside. I went out at one point to find all 3 of them (1 big, 2 small) in the sandbox/treehouse/wooden fort thingy. The big one was remodeling it. The small ones were digging. I can’t even remember the last time they dug in the sand. If I’d been thinking, I would have taken a picture.
At about 6:30, the big one came in and said that the small ones had been asking all afternoon if they could go inside yet. Naturally, when it finally came time to go inside: can’t we stay out here?
I’m not really sure what I’m going to do on this first day of September. There is plenty more vacuuming and mopping and schlepping that could be done. I’m also thinking about some quality time with a sewing machine, though the ironing board (and iron) are at the shop, which makes the logistics of sewing a little more interesting.
I’m waiting for an e-mail with the first prompt for a new journaling class I signed up for. Plus, I have to figure out what I’m going to talk about Thursday night — I’m doing a trunk show at an area quilt guild. And I can think of 30 or so other things I ought to be doing.
But it’s Labor Day here in the US, and I might just not do anything I “ought” to do, and just enjoy having a day off.
What about you? How are you greeting the new month?
Suzanne
No cleaning here – a little piecing, a little quilting, and later today packing for our trip tomorrow to NYC and Washington DC.
Is buying an ironing board and iron for the house on the agenda?? I imagine you’ll end up duplicating a lot of sewing supplies to have access to them in both places.
