It is #carvedecember2021 and I broke out the tools

It is #carvedecember2021 and I broke out the tools last night and carved this piece intending it is a flower. I went a little overboard stamping it out (I even got out the good printing ink for some of them, which I haven’t used in ages. I was experimenting with how to color them in with watercolor, but didn’t wait for them to completely dry, so I need to work on some patience. I’ve also scanned some prints to try digitizing in Illustrator. The prompt was lovely and even if this doesn’t quite meet the prompt, I did have a lovely inky time playing. #carvedecember #handcarvedstamp

It’s December and that means there’s a bazilli

It’s December and that means there’s a bazillion different prompt lists and challenges and I want to do them all, but that’s clearly not possible. What I am going to do is pick and choose and go with what brings me joy on a particular day. Today, I started with @justjennessa’s intention setting for her December daily practice challenge and journaled for 10 minutes. My word of the year and continued focus this month is joy. I’m thinking about ways to make sure there is lots of fun and joy this month. I then covered up my words with some paint and collage and stamping and thought the @artjournaladvent prompt of here and now fit with what I had written about already—what can I do to be here and present and be intentional about seeking joy with my family. And do it now, not some time later. My “regular” art journal was so neglected, I couldn’t find it right away last night! This is based on @lisasolomon’s chroma challenge for the @getmessyartjournal #seasonofcultivation. The photo I used was one I took of some bee balm at my sister’s place in New York in September.
