It’s august, which means I’m going to try to read a book of poetry every day this month. It’s #thesealeychallenge and this will be my third year! First up is Margaret Atwood’s “Dearly” — which I enjoyed. I keep intending to revisit some of the poetry I’ve read during these challenges, to spend more time with them. We hiked > 7 miles yesterday. It felt like 75% was uphill. It was beautiful and peaceful and on the trails we only saw 6 people and 2 dogs. And I almost ran in to this nest perched on a branch hanging over the middle of the trail. We couldn’t figure out what the nest was made of. Isn’t it gorgeous and perfect (and tiny)? Mark went back later to ride his bike on the other trails and he’s off riding some more this morning before we head back home.

Keep going. I decided last night that this book was done. I have a couple of half-finished spreads — they have leftover paint scraped on them, but they never spark any ideas when I look at them, so I’m moving on. You may recall that this book had black ribbons holding the signatures in the cover. They became annoying and I actually worked on these signatures out of the cover and just used some elastic cord to hold them in place. #gmseasonofnew #getmessyart #suzannegetsmessy

Messy. Yesterday’s retail therapy included a Str

Messy. Yesterday’s retail therapy included a Strawberry Summer Salad at Wendy’s that no joke had the most amazing bacon (super crunchy and tons of it, it’s like they knew I needed bacon), plus fries AND and and a chocolate Frosty. But it was a salad so it was healthy. (Don’t argue with me about this). Plus a set of Golden High Flow acrylics that I did some color play with last night. I had to buy it. In addition to red/yellow/blue, the set had fluorescent pink and green gold. I HAD TO. does this sort of therapy work. Yes. But also no. Life is messy. #getmessyart #suzannegetsmessy #gmseasonofnew
