Despite my protestations that I’m an editor, not a writer, I find that the pull of NaNoWriMo is irresistible. It’s Day 5 and my wordcount is north of 15K (which is WAY ahead of schedule….). I’m trying to pad earlier, while I’m excited and have time, knowing that later in the month, I’ll be busy with college kids home for Thanksgiving (plus we HOST Thanksgiving this year!).
I have a couple of actual goals this year:
- Write at least 50,000 words
- Finish the story, rather than abandoning it after November 30th
- Raise money for the Malala Fund.
I’ve joined an online group of writers called The Mighty Pens that are not only writing, but also raising money for the Malala Fund, raising money to support educating girls worldwide.
I hope you’ll consider sponsoring me. It can be like when you sponsor a runner — you’ll donate based on how many words I write — or it can be a straight donation. Even a few dollars help in the long run.
Whether or not you donate, I hope you’ll cheer me on, it’s a little scary to even tell people I’m doing this. I’ll try to keep you posted on my progress.
