Just for fun, I decided to participate in a giveaway blog hop, the theme of which is 2012 favorite reads, as well as books we are anticipating in 2013. The hop is hosted by Cuddlebuggery, one of my new favorite book blogs.
This year’s books
I’ve posted a bit already about my top 10 favorites from 2012, my top ten favorite new authors, and the top ten books I wouldn’t have minded having Santa bring me. Spoiler alert: Santa didn’t bring me ANY gifts. In fact, no one in our house got books this year, which was kind of weird. I did get an iTunes card, though, which has already magically turned in to 5 books and a couple of songs….
Of course, if I were to write any of those top 10 lists today, even just a few days/weeks later, they’d be completely different. I hadn’t read Code Name Verity yet — which is both a new favorite book, as well as a new favorite author.
And heck, the year isn’t even actually over it! There’s two whole days of reading left to go! So far, my list of books finished in 2012 numbers 116. If I had to pick my absolute favorite of the whole year, I don’t think I could do it. There were too many good books this year! And I need to be careful about how much time I spend reading book blogs, because my to-read shelf is now pretty epic, and growing more so every day.
Next year’s books
As I look forward to 2013, and the books I want to read, and the other things I want to do (like finish some quilts, finally…), I have to be realistic: I have a full time job (um, plus another job that requires me to go to about a bazillion basketball games every stinking week. At least I can read books on my iPad on the bus…).
I’ve already made some pronouncements about books I’m looking forward to in 2013, but I think my most anticipated book for the year is Splintered, and luckily I don’t have to wait long for that one, since it comes out on January 1! I’ve also got that list of classics I want to try to read this year. Plus, I made a list of debut authors to read as well.
So wait, why I am sitting here writing this blog? I need to get reading, and so do you, my blog reader.
Giveaway information
Because I know you don’t already have enough to read, I’m going to make you scroll past everything I’ve read in 2012 (click on the cover to view the book on Goodreads…), and then you can enter in my giveaway. I thought about giving away a book I already have, or maybe picking one of my favorites to give away, but then I decided that I would make this more about what YOU the reader want, so the prize is a physical book of your choice (um, with caveats: less than $15, ships from Amazon.com, US Addresses only…). Maybe you’ll see something in my list you can’t live without? Or maybe Santa forgot to bring you something you really wanted to read?
Thanks
Thanks for visiting my blog. I know that the book portion of it is still pretty new, but I’m building on that. I have a lot of interests, so this blog will never be just about books, but there are very few of us whose lives are just about one thing all the time, anyway, right?

What book would I choose? My TBR/wish list is in the hundreds (many, many Hundreds). So to narrow down the choices, I would pick one of my TBRs that on your above list. Okay, that narrows it down quite a bit. But still it leaves me with 25 to choose from…..hmmm..I’ll have to think on those 25.
