I used to have an HP laptop, but then it started acting weird (right in the middle of writing my 2nd book), and I ended up replacing it with a desktop including the necessary Change mouse DPI that I had to do. (Tehcnically, I still have the HP laptop, but it’s a 17inch, big heavy thing, and it still acts weird (one of the fans is broken, so it overheats and just randomly shuts down with no warning…)
And then my sister gave me an iMac that I used at the shop (with a 24 inch monitor). Oh, and because I loved the ginormous monitor so much, my HP desktop got a big honking monitor, too.
And then I moved home, and the iMac became my primary machine. Every so often, I’d wish I had a laptop that worked properly, or maybe one of those cute iPads, but I kept not getting one, and the Earth kept spinning, which meant that it was probably OK that I saved my money.
And then, I did Nanowrimo and discovered that being chained to the desk chair to write 50,000 words in a month was a pain in the butt. And neck and hip and…I started wishing I could go curl up on the couch or in bed or go down to the library. Hard to curl up with a 24 inch iMac.
And then, I went to Best Buy and they had an open item MacBook Air (the 13 inch one!) available for $300 off the original price.
As Mark put it, I this means that I have now officially crossed over to the dark side. I still have to use the HP desktop for some printing tasks, but yeah.
I’m not a PC anymore. I am definitely a Mac.
My brother-in-law is laughing his butt off at me, I just know it.

Congratulations! Your husband is wrong, however, you have finally left the dark side. He’s got to learn the correct attributes – and who said it first 🙂

I’m with Marcella. And I also wouldn’t say I’m laughing my butt off, I’m hoping your sound decisions rub off on my own dad who is contemplating his next computer move. Please email him. 🙂

Yep. I just became a Mac too. Two weeks ago I got my iMac. In a steadfast pc household which also contains a hp employee, I have broken freeeeeeeee! Love my new mac too.

I soooo want to go there….
i love my iPad, but I really want to ditch the HP laptop for a macbook. Maybe after the move…if we have any money left 🙂

Welcome to the light side, where everything is cooler and easier. Sure there is some software you can’t run , but it’s probably lame software anyway.

I’ve been a Mac for years and years. When I finally retired, I didn’t have to switch to a PC for work and back to my Mac for my life. Now it’s ALL MAC ALL THE TIME (I have a MacBook Pro as well – life is good). Welcome to the family!
