More mindless sewing, now requires using my mind

More mindless sewing eysterday resulted in getting the rest of the strips sewn together for my Chinese Coin quilt.

Now, I have to make a decision.  I’m auditioning the two fabrics for th esashing/border.  I think I’ve already made up my mind, but would enjoy some input.

Which one do you like better?  The dark green with cream stars, or the chocolate-y brown (that has tiny cream circles that you can’t even see in this picture.

I’ll let you know the verdict in a few days.

From where I am sitting, the brown looks better!

I like the brown. It seems to make the colors pop better and isn’t as visually distracting (and busy) as the green. The green tends to dull the colors to me.

For what it’s worth, I like the brown. It seems to compete less with the coins than the green fabric does. Nice quilt – what a great use of scraps!

As a rule I don’t like brown but the brown one works the best. The green makes it look very busy. Are you going to quilt a design or something in the brown?

No idea, but the strips look beautiful!

On no, NOT the brown! LOL I love to see the other comments – this time I’m definitely in the minority, with Ruthie. What usually happens is that the one that I don’t like IS actually used and it turns out fabulous!

Can’t wait to see it DONE.

I’d use the chocolate for a couple of reasons:

First anything chocolate is a good thing in my book! LOL

Then, I think some awesome feathering would look great in those strips.

Ditto Michelle – chocolate always wins! I do like that one better too.

I think it would depend on how you plan to quilt it. Something fancy down the stripe—-I would go with the brown. Quick and easy allover– use the green.

    Brown, most definitely.

Brown, it’s less distracting. How about auditioning a darkish blue?
