Pet Peeve

I’ve probably  mentioned this before, but my biggest pet peeve is this:

That’s how we’ve always done it

(or some variation on that theme)

It just makes me want to scream or say something obnoxious like:

People used to use outhouses, shall we go back to all of the old ways?

Don’t get me wrong, I believe in learning from and respecting the past, but for the love of Zeus, people.  Use your imagination and give something NEW a chance.

Rant over.  You may return to your regular Thursday adventures.

Is it January 3rd yet?

No?  Well, it can’t get here soon enough.

I am SO ready for the Iowa Caucuses to be over.  I’d like to be able to answer my phone and watch my TV without hearing from this or that candidate.  I still need to go to the PO to pick up our mail (we had them hold it while we were gone).  I can’t even imagine how full of fliers it will be.  We’ve even started getting people coming to the door with fliers.

What we find odd is that we are both pretty sure we are registered as Independent, although we both tend to vote for a particular party.  This party seems to know this and has been the one that has been flooding us with information.  I’m not sure how they found us out.

I’m just not sure how I feel about a political process that started, what?   A year ago?  More?  And won’t be over until next November.  Gah.

Living in a one-horse town

Most of the time I like living in a small town.  Really, I do.

Today is not one of those times.

Our post office was apparently only open from 8:30 to 10:30 this morning.  Not only did I have book orders to mail, but they’ve been holding our mail for the past week, and I’d dearly love to know what is sitting there waiting for me.

I was so annoyed that it was closed that I drove all the way home and was inside the house before I remembered that I wanted to go to the Pharmacy to get some Sudafed.

I hauled my cookies back out to the car and back downtown only to discover that the pharmacy was closed, too.

Moving on:

I can’t decide which of these two pictures I like better:

This is my adorable nephew Colin. We were watching Mark, Will, and Joe skate in Central Park.

Colin is such a sweetheart.  He’s sporting a hat that his Gramma Reed (my mom) knit for him.  He calls me Aunt Suzy and says “Suzy” in a way that I wish I could reproduce so you could understand just how cute it is coming out of his mouth.   He mimics everything.  If you ask him to say something, he’ll try.  It’s pretty funny to listen to him.  My boys didn’t talk as much (or as early).  He shares a nanny with a little girl that is 6 months older than he is, which I suspect has had an impact on his early language skills.  I wish he lived closer so I could spoil him more.  I will get to see him (and spoil him) again in another 6 or 8 weeks — after his little sister arrives!

Minor complaint

Just got back from the post office, and I have to say:  is it just me or is the selection of Christmas stamps offered by the United States Postal Service less than inspiring???   The Madonna and Child stamp is very pretty, but it doesn’t really suit my style, and the Holiday Knits stamps?  I just don’t think they are very cute.  Here’s a link so you can see them: Holiday Stamps from the USPS

Maybe next year I’ll try getting our own personalized stamps.

Then I won’t be able to complain if they aren’t cute, right?

And if you do like the USPS stamps, my apologies if I’ve offended.  To each his own, right?

Seriously annoyed

Excuse me as I rant (and apologize) for a moment about something:

The MQResource blog ring is broken, and has been, and I can’t do a @#$% thing about it at the moment and I’m seriously annoyed about it.

I apologize to all of you that are members (or want to be members, but can’t because I can’t activate your membership).

I have sent an e-mail to tech support, but have gotten no response.

I can NOT log in, and I can’t explain the situation.  I try to have them e-mail me my password, but I never get the @#$% e-mails.  That’s a separate rant:  my e-mail provider thinks it is protecting me from spam and has a filter on my e-mail such that I don’t even get the opportunity to say YES!  I want that e-mail!  Yes!  That’s a valid e-mail.  @#$%@#$%@#$%

So, at this point, I’m not sure what to do, other than to abandon the existing ring and start over.  I am NOT impressed with Ringsurf, but quite frankly wasn’t impressed by the other Ring websites that exist.  I’m not sure what to do, and I apologize profusely to anyone that has tried to surf our Ring, or tried to join it.

I’ll let you know in a day or two what I’m going to do about it.
