Back in the day, I was an avid cross stitcher. I mean, I had repetitive motion problems from so much cross stitching. And then I learned to quilt and that was pretty much the end of cross stitching. Here’s just a few of the pieces that live on my walls and have been stuffed in a box. That tub is full of complete and partially complete projects. My goal is to pull some of the finished stuff out and actually get it framed!
And look at those neat backs! I always stitched on linen, no Aida cloth for me. I didn’t stitch with a hoop, either. I hated hoops. I’m learning to embrace hoops as I spend time embroidering, it’s almost impossible to do many of the stitches without a hoop providing tension.
This month, my mom, sister, and I are going to be doing Rebecca Ringquist’s Advanced Embroidery Sampler — they are using her preprinted sampler, I’m using this awesome gray polka dot fabric. My sister is still waiting for hers to come in the mail, so we’re in a bit of a holding pattern at the moment.
