Prices depend on the kind of editing you need and the size of your project. I currently focus on copyediting, if you need developmental editing or proofreading, I can direct you to editors who can help you out.
I like to edit a small sample (1-4 pages, approximately 250-1000 words) in order to give you a quote.
In general, my prices are guided by the industry rates that you can see at the Editorial Freelancers Association’s website.
Light Copyediting: In general, your manuscript is pretty clean, and you need someone to review for basic mechanical issues (spelling, grammar, capitalization, standardization of style based on a style guide). I can edit about 5-10 pages per hour, and charge $30 per hour.
Medium/Heavy Copyediting: In addition to the basic spelling and grammar editing, your manuscript might need more help. This type of editing takes longer, as I will be spending more time helping you rewrite passages for clarity, reducing wordiness, and generally making it as readable as possible. I can edit about 2-5 pages per hour and charge $40 per hour.
I’ll edit most anything — fiction, non-fiction, letters, proposals, reports, essays, blog posts, no project is too big or too small!
