Week 8

Joe learned how to make these mini pizzas at school, the 7th graders do a trimester long FCS unit (Family & Consumer Sciences…). Easy to make, yummy to eat. Day 50

We had an initial consult with the orthodontist today. Both boys need to work on keeping their lips closed and breathing through their noses instead of their mouths. They are supposed to spend 30 minutes every day with the straw in their lips to practice... Day 51

All day long, I joked with everyone that my romantic husband was taking me to the basketball game and was going to treat me to popcorn. I really didn't mind, I don't need my husband to buy me over-priced roses to show me he loves me. He managed to have the last laugh, though, as he bought me roses...he got me a mini rose bush! And here, I thought I was the clever one, because I made and sent him a Valentine's postcard... (I tried taking a picture last night, but the light was terrible, so this was taken today in the natural light, but I'm counting it as a win for yesterday). Day 52

I did not realize until I started typing the title that my STEP forward picture is of a SOCK. This is the current in-progress sock, and I thought it would be fun to experiment with getting a close-up of the texture of the knitting. Someone has been borrowing my lights and photo cube, and I recently got the lights back, so it was nice to use the light, getting a good picture even though it's 9PM at night... Day 53

The big news around here, in addition to the boys getting their own cell phones, is that we've ditched the landline. The switch was final today, and not a minute too soon -- the cordless phones have been acting goofy for months, and just the other night I dumped Kool-Aid on the answering machine phone and killed it. We were pretty thrilled to throw them all away, although Cocoa could not figure out why I was taking a picture instead of petting her. Day 54

We are the Redhawks! Our Girl's Basketball team is headed to the Regional finals on Monday! I have gotten to know the girls on team and I am very proud of them. Also, my boss is not just the JH/HS principal, he's the head coach… Day 55

I have often come home and not been able to find the cat, only to discover that he's "hiding" in plain sight in this rocker. There are pet beds in a number of different places, and it's funny sometimes to watch the 3 animals fight over who is going to get a particular spot at a particular time. Can you guess who wins?
