June 7, Portrait of Someone Who Did Something Stupid

My hands were too full:  I was putting my running shoes back on the shelf after exercising.  Turns out  I couldn’t do that and hang on to my iPod at the same time.

It took a bath in the dog’s freshly filled water dish.

Damn.

(The quilt has been washed 2 more times, with no discernable change in the patches that picked up color.  It is now stretched out on my design wall, blocking.  I don’t disagree that the sparkle of the pinkish pieces will be OK, however, some of them are a lot pinker in real life than that picture shows.  At least it will dry and be OK.  The same might not be able to be said about my iPod.)

(Picture taken with the webcam on my iMac, and doctored with The Pioneer Woman’s Seventies action).

That is also the picture of a woman who has already sat through 2 baseball games, and has one more to go tonight.

  1. DH dropped his work cell phone in something a lot more disgusting than a dog’s water dish (when he was on a restroom break if you get my drift!) :-P . Took the battery out and put the phone in a bowl of rice for a few days. The rice sucks out the moisture I guess. All I know the phone still works. Too bad the rice wouldn’t suck errant dye out of fabrics????

  2. Yeah, I’ve done the cell phone in the toilet too (but mine got flushed…). Actually Mark dropped his in a toilet, and the rice trick worked on his. My iPod is rest in a bag of rice, but I’ve read mixed reviews of that as a method — it may actually simply be the fact that you let it dry out for a really long time, not the rice itself. We’ll see…..
