Interesting search terms

I think it’s fascinating to see what search terms sometimes lead people to my blog.

Some I understand, some, though, make me scratch my head, and I feel compelled to go to Google to figure out what post they ended up at.

Like this one, from this morning:

Where to find tulle in Houston

I’m really sorry to the person that visited my blog via that particular search string, because clearly I have no idea where you can find tulle in Houston.  I hope you found a source.

(And for the record, the post that that search phrase brought them to was my post about my journal quilt that went to Houston.  It had a layer of tulle).

Yesterday, this phrase had me laughing a bit:

are piano recitals really important

Again, I’m pretty sure my blog didn’t help with the answer, but for the record, I would have to say that yes, I think piano recitals are very important.  I think it’s important for kids to take the time and effort to work on a particular piece of music enough that it is suitable for public performance.  I know that I’m not teaching concert pianists, but I think it’s important for the kids to have a chance to show their friends and family the fruits of their labor.

Better get cracking, more quilting to do!  Quilts to bind!  Messes to clean up!

Yes, It’s Official

Wii are nuts.

And no, the boys don’t have any potential way to read my blog, so Wii are safe.

So, last night when I posted the previous post, I had just started looking around online.  I REFUSE to pay a premium — there are a number of places that you can buy the $250 package for $500 or more.  Not going to happen.

I found that one of the Big Box stores had a bundle online and in stock.  But it was bundled with extra controllers, and 7 extra games (6 of which you got to choose from a list).  Wii weren’t impressed with the list, and didn’t want to spend that much money just to get the console and a bunch of games Wii didn’t really want.  (But Wii considered it, because even though it costs a lot, you actually GET something for that extra money).

I looked around for awhile (and found several websites that are Product trackers — they check various online sources and display the status at each store — you can even sign up  for e-mail alerts) and then headed to bed.

This morning, just for fun, I checked the Big Box website again, and by golly — they  had a different list of games to choose from.  More choice — and better games!  So……Wii are done with boy-Christmas shopping for this year!  Woohoo!  Wii are the coolest parents in the world.  Except Wii aren’t going to get credit — Santa will get all of that love….

Last night Joe asked Mark point blank “Tell me the truth.  Is Santa real or not?  Don’t lie to me.”

Mark answered “Of course he’s real.”

(I promise to quit using Wii in future posts.  I just couldn’t resist.)

Are Wii crazy?

Yes Wii are.  Wii are thinking about trying to find a Nintendo Wii for the boy-o’s for Christmas.  Think it’ll happen?

Then again, maybe Wii won’t give into this crazy game and Wii will find something else for Santa to bring them.

Wii will just have to wait and see.

Much slower day

I’ve gotten very little done today. Mostly just sitting here at the computer browsing around blogs and such. And messing around with how to display my pictures. What I’ve done is uploaded some of them to my website, and if you click on them, it should take you to the larger pic on my site, so you can see the detail better.

I did take some pictures of various things. I’m almost embarrassed to show you the picture of the ornament of which the angel baby (star baby?) fabric reminds me. ***

I had no idea it was in such bad shape. True confessions time: for the last 2 (or 3?) years, I have left the Christmas decorating up to the men. I have had no interest in decorating, and if they tree hadn’t even gone up, I probably wouldn’t have cared. All of which is to admit that it’s been awhile since I’ve actually looked closely at the tree ornaments.  I will have to investigate cleaning this poor thing up.  I’m also ashamed to admit that I’m not entirely sure how old it is.  Mom?  Dad?  *My* memory says it was for my first Christmas, which would make it 35 years old, but I’m not really sure.  (Not that I actually remember getting it that year….)

You probably can’t read it, but the reindeer has my name engraved on it.

And here are some detail shots to show you what the quilting on the Star Baby quilt actually looks like. (All of these pictures are clickable)

Apparently, I’ve been in a swirly mood lately, as I’ve been doing lots of freehand swirls.  The green fabric was all quilted with small swirls, the outer border with large swirls, and the red fabric (in the star blocks) has a funky freehand curvy crosshatch thing.  Some of it is a little funkier than I intended, but I just left it….

And lastly, here is a picture of my big Christmas quilt that I finally finished this year. This was a Block of the Month project from Joann’s in the Year 2000. I started quilting it the first year I had my quilting machine (2002), but had some trouble, and it has been sitting around languishing ever since.

I did a couple of things that I would never do on a customer quilt — the large side borders (which I just quilted a few weeks ago) are completely different than the top and bottom. I was never going to be able to repeat the design I had done without annoying myself, so I decided to not even try.

If you really want to see detail photos, let me know. The ones I took aren’t great, but I can try again if someone insists.

*** Did you notice that my sentence was grammatically correct this time?  No preposition dangling at the end this time.  Thanks to Helen for helping me get it right.  I tried, but it wasn’t coming out properly last night.  LOL.  Oddly enough, the only reason I really even pointed it out was because I had just watched an old Stargate SG-1 episode in which Richard Dean Anderson points out to a bad guy that the bad guy had finished his sentence with a preposition, and I thought it was sort of funny that I did the same thing.

Maybe you had to be there.   Or maybe you had to be me.

The year of the finished Christmas quilts

dsc03499 The year of the finished Christmas quilts

More pictures tomorrow when the light is better. As in: when there actually IS light, as opposed to right now, when it is pitch-black outside.

(And by finished, I mean quilted and BOUND, with a finished binding!)

And in the dryer — another Christmas quilt that I finished quilting a few weeks ago. I finally decided (as with the Snowman Rows) that if I wanted it done anytime soon, a machine finished binding was in order.

Oh, and tomorrow I’ll take a picture of the Christmas ornament that the Star Baby fabric reminds me of.

I tried to rewrite that sentence so that it didn’t end with a preposition, and I just can’t do it right now.  It’s beyond my capabilities at this hour of the night, apologies to anyone that might be bothered.

As for how I accomplish so much:  my studio and office are a MESS, I have a very tolerant family, and I have a tendency to hyper-focus when I’m in the throes of something.

After this weekend of crazy sewing, I’ll probably sit around eating bon-bons for a week.  Or something…….

TTFN-
