Monday Again?

Good grief, how did it get to be Monday again?  And not only that:  this is the boys last week of school.  Well, they have to go back next Tuesday for Track and Field Day, but that doesn’t really count.  Only a few more days of being 2nd graders.  Weird.   I’m pretty sure I’m not ready for summer vacation already, but oh well, time and tide wait for no woman, right?

I didn’t manage to take a 26 Things photo yesterday, but I thought of one that I had already taken that I could use for the world Tangle.  I posted this on the blog before:

I convinced my lovely assistant to pose for a entry on the 26 Things list, so you get to see Katie twice today:

You could almost hear her thinking “Mom, why are you bugging me?  Why do you keep taking my picture?  Will you get out of my face already?”

I got the binding done on my red wholecloth today.  I couldn’t get a picture of the whole thing in my studio — it’s too dark — I need to take it out in the sun, I think.   I finished couching the sparkly stuff (I think Vicki said that what she sent me was from Madeira), but now I’m stuck.  And I need to get unstuck really soon.  Like tomorrow.  This crazy thing has to be in the mail by the end of the week.  I want to do some more embellishment, but I don’t know what.  I don’t know if I’m trying to hard, or if I just haven’t hit on the right thing yet.  It’s hanging on my design wall again, and I’ll keep contemplating it while I work on a quilt for a customer.

Time to take the boys to piano lessons — last lesson for the year!

What a cool piece! Yes, the sparkle thread is from Madiera and it’s well aged! The “tangled” photo is very funny. Good thing puppies are cute – but I guess you could say that about children too! LOL!

Oh my, I’m so behind with my reading. Last time I visited you were leaving, and now you’ve been home for a week! And in that time you’ve made a darling kitty and a couple nifty Jawas – very clever interpretation! – and had two frogs added to your household – one very unusual. What marvelous things you have to photograph – it’s like having my children little again. I still have a couple of red clay “animals” they made at summer day camp one year. They can’t figure out why I keep them. They’ll learn soon enough, when their kids start bring stuff like that home.

Instagram post 2197344641026691265_15732201 “Don’t blame your tools.” (I got my new carving tools yesterday and had to try them all out. This is my reminder that a good artist never blames her tools, but it sure is nice having really great tools. (I got Pfeil palm set C, plus one extra) #carvedecember #thepainteddiaries#suzanne_365
Instagram post 2196914898468997999_15732201 Can you find the cat in this picture?
Instagram post 2196566338359576256_15732201 My people wanted new socks for our upcoming ski trip, so I found some @darntoughvermont ski socks big enough for their giant feet! The XxL have padding on the shin, marks XL socks have padding in the top of the foot, too. (He wears a 14, my other people wear a size 16 shoe 🙃). I decided I needed a sock stamp. These socks are guaranteed for life! (Swipe to see the socks... bet you can’t guess which ones are mine, lol) #carvedecember #suzanne_365 #thepainteddiaries
Instagram post 2196129456853187803_15732201 Reputation is what other people know about you. Honor is what you know about yourself. —Lois McMaster Bujold, my absolute favorite author, has been named a SFEA Grand Master. This is from her book A Civil Campaign. I think about this concept a lot. For my #carvedecember carving, I meant the rays to be shallower, but I slipped. I’m also terrible at lining them up. #thepainteddiaries#suzanne_365
Instagram post 2195863854498559253_15732201 The prompt was tea time, but I don’t do tea or coffee, so hot cocoa it was! I found this mug shortly after signing up for @everythingartuk’s Wanderlust 2020. While drinking and reading, I felt like I was being watched. I think he thought I had ice cream in my mug and was waiting for his turn. #kasiasadventcalendar #suzannesadventjournal #suzannegetsmessy#getmessyartjournal #dailyhobbes
Instagram post 2195281820554277242_15732201 White on white. I did some journaling with a clear Glaze pen on the predecorated page. The words are modeling paste through a stencil. My intention was to do some more layering after it was dry, but I kinda like it like this, so I’m going to leave it for now! #kasiasadventcalendar #suzannesadventjournal #thelayeredpage #suzannegetsmessy #getmessyartjournal
